General Information:

  1. Area, 1.27 million square miles

  2. Banks, Banks are normally open 10 am - 2 pm Mondays- Fridays and 10 am - 12 noon Saturday.

  3. Clothing, Depend on climate. Normally, a coat or warm sweatshirt in the winter (Nov - Mar), or if you are going up into the mountains even in summer, you need to bring a winter coat as well. A light weight wrap or sweater can be good for heavily air-conditioned buses or trains, or cool evenings as well. In summer (Mar - Nov), prefer light cottons and loose clothing, hats, sunglasses, high-factor sunscreen lotion, insect repellent, etc.

  4. Credit Card, Main hotels, restaurants and shopping centers honor all major credit cards

  5. Currency, Indian Rupee. There is no limit to the amount of foreign currency that visitors may bring.

  6. Electricity, Voltage is 220/240 AC (plugs are 2 or 3-round pin and adaptors should be taken where relevant)

  7. Health, There are currently no compulsory vaccinations for travel to India, although it is strongly recommended that you are protected against the following: Polio, tetanus, Typhoid, Cholera, Hepatitis A and Malaria.

  8. Language, There are 22 National Languages recognized by the Constitution of India, of which Hindi is the Official Union Language. Besides these, there are 844 different dialects that are practiced in various parts of the Country. (English is widely-spoken).

  9. Photography,  Tourists should seek permission from the authorities concerned before taking photographs of places of military importance, railway stations, bridges, airports, military installations, metro trains, tribal areas and sensitive border regions. It is prohibited to take photographs in some of the temples, historical monuments, forts, palaces, tombs and monasteries. Camera fee is charged extra in some historical monuments.

  10. Religion, According to the 2001 census, Hindus constituted the majority with 80.5 %, Muslims came second at 13.4%, followed by Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and others.

  11. Shopping, Beware of roadside vendor, always prefer government approve shops only like the Central Cottage Industries, Emporia (most major cities have one) for fixed prices and a fair idea of the cost with a regular dealer. Plz note: Trading in ivory, fur, animal skins, antiquities and the like is illegal. If you must have it, obtain a certificate of legitimate sale and permission for export before leaving the country.

  12. Emergency,  Always keep a medical kit with you when you travel to India and stock up on aspirins, diarrhea tablets, insect cream, salt tablets and other first-aid essentials. 

  13. Do's & Dont's, Do carry attested photocopies of your travel documents and keep the originals in a safely locked baggage. Do fill up a Currency Declaration Form along and a Disembarkation Card besides making an oral declaration of the luggage you are carrying. Do not smoke in public places, Do not give money to beggars.

  3. Once Guest / Travel agent make the payment it’s indicate that the guest interested in our tour and has read and accepted all the terms and conditions mentioned on the “Sumanya Travel Services Pvt Ltd”. Brochure / website / booking form.

  4. In case of a guest / travel agent process booking in behalf of their family, friend or for any guest, has been authorized to do so by the concern person (guest travelling) after reading all the terms and conditions mentioned on the brochure / website / booking form. 

India Visa:

All foreign nation traveler must have to obtain valid visa before entering India. We have e visa facility of all foreign nation guest, Request you to please visit & apply online e- tourist visa from India Government official website – www.indianvisaonline.gov.in     

Plz note: Services of e-Visa involves completely online application for which no facilitation is required by any intermediary / agents etc. It is advised not to believe or fall in trap of any such unscrupulous elements who claim speedy/express grant of e-Visa and charge money for it. Do not share your personal information with any unauthorized website as it may lead to your personal data piracy. Only visit Government of India website with address www.indianvisaonline.gov.in for any kind of service or clarification. For any clarification or doubt, you may write to us on our email i.e. indiatvoa@gov.in.

 

Sikkim Inner Line Permit:

For entering Sikkim a normal Inner Line permit is required. This permit can be obtained on any one of the following procedures:

  1. At the time of applying for the Indian Visa itself, the clients need to mention that they will visit Sikkim and accordingly a 15 days inner line permit is stamped on the visa.

  2. On arrival in Darjeeling we need to produce the original passport with valid Indian Visa at the District Magistrates office and a 15 days inner line permit can be granted.   It takes half day.

  3. While entering Sikkim the permits can be issued on the spot at Rongpoo Check Post (while going to Gangtok) or Melli Check Post (while going to Pelling). It takes 20 minutes to 1 hour depending on group size. A serial numbered form at the check post needs to be filled and submitted along with photocopies of passport and Indian visa and 02 passport size snaps.

The following can be granted Inner Line permits to visit Sikkim ONLY by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi or the Indian High Commissions abroad.

  1. Foreigners travelling with Diplomat Passports/Official Passport like Red Cross etc.
  2. Citizens from Bangladesh, Republic of China, Peoples Republic of China,Macau, Pakistan, Myanmar, Taiwan, Nigeria.

 

Sikkim Restricted Area Permit:

Required for clients travelling to Tsomgo Lake and Lachung / Yumthang (North Sikkim Visit)

Designeted form needs to be filled by the guest and scanned and send us along with scanned copies of passport/valid Indian Visa and passport size snaps along with Sikkim Inner-line permit.

For the restricted area permit the scanned copies should reach us at-least 10 working days prior to the date of travel. The guest should carry all original documents with them as they may be asked for the same anytime for verification. (For this trip minimum 02 Pax is required for restricted area permit purpose.)

 

Weather:

India is a country of all different weather changing time to time, according to the weather best time to travel India is depend on region and season.

High Season (Oct–Mar)
Pleasant weather – warm days, cool nights. Peak tourists. Peak prices. December and January bring chilly nights in the north. Temperatures climb steadily from February.

Low Season (Apr–Jun)
April is hot; May and June are scorching. Competitive hotel prices. From June, the monsoon sweeps from south to north, bringing draining humidity. Beat the heat (but not the crowds) in the cool hills.

Shoulder Season (Jul–Sep end)
Passes to Ladakh and the high Himalaya open from May to September. Monsoon rain-showers persist through to September.

The best time to visit Sikkim is either between March and May or October and mid-December. If you want to witness the blooming natural beauty in Gangtok best season to visit would be in spring, from March to May. Autumn, on the other hand, brings the clear view of Himalayan Range.

Best time to visit Sikkim to see snow Snowfall in Gangtok is a very rare and uncommon occurrence. However, places like Tsomgo Lake, Kupup Lake, Lachung, Lachen, Yumthang, and Zero Point etc. witness heavysnowfall during winters. However, the cold is really harsh during Winter in Sikkim.

Travel Document:

Our travel coordinator will send soft copy of all the travel document prior to the departure.  On guest arrive in India. Our tour manager will met and handover the hard copy of all the travel document / kits include Final confirmation latter, Hotel and service voucher, hotel Confirmation with contact detail etc.  

 

Transportation:

We appointed latest and comfortable aircon transport of all our guest. Types of vehicle depend on no of guest travelling.

  1. Using non-aircon Jeep for Tiger hill in Darjeeling & Sikkim Number non-aircon Jeep for Tsomgo Lake, Lachung/Yumthang trip in Gangtok & Khecheopalri Lake trip in Pelling.

  2. Our Rate based on Aircon Innova (Using Sikkim Number non - aircon Jeep for Tsomgo Lake trip & North Sikkim trip as for this trip our vehicles are not allowed).

  3. For Aircon Tempo Traveller (Using Npn aircon Jeeps for Tiger hill etc. in Darjeeling  as it is not possible by Tempo Traveller & Sikkim Number Non aircon Jeeps for Tsomgo Lake trip & North Sikkim trip as for this trip our vehicles are not allowed).

  4. For Aircon Coach (Using non - aircon Jeeps for Tiger hill etc. in Darjeeling & Khecheopalri Lake trip in Pelling as it is not possible by Coach & Sikkim Number, so non - aircon Jeeps for Tsomgo Lake trip & North Sikkim trip as for this trip our vehicles are not allowed)

  5. Accompanying ESG Charges, Portage, Entrance, Toy train ticket charges etc. Subject to change without notice in the event of fuel price hike.

Hotels:

  1. Single Occupancy
    Single guest provided with single occupancy/single bedded room have to pay single room supplement apart from the tour package cost.
  1. Check-in and Check-out time 
    For India normally, check-in time is 12 noon and check-out time is 10 am in India.
    For international tours, generally the check-in time is 3 p.m. and check-out time is at 12 noon.

           Plz note: If guest wants any change therein, like early check-in /out, he/she will have to manage the same on his/her own with hotel authorities on
           payment of additional charges.

  1. Twin room Sharing
    Twin room, 02 separate bed in 01 bed room. Person have to sharing the room with their sharing partner/s.
  1. Double room Sharing
    Double room, 01 king / queen size bed in 01 bed room. Person have to sharing the room with their sharing partner/s.
  1. Extra bed
    Extra bed, 01 bed  / mattress provide to accommodate 01 person in double / twin beded room.

 

Restaurants:

  1. We have tie-up with the reputed restaurant in city, keeping in mind of guest safety and hygienic. While, we endeavour to select the best quality restaurants for en-route Meals halts in terms of food, sanitation facilities, hygiene, and service.
  1. However the company has no direct control over their maintenance. Guest/s shall take note that the Restaurant Manager allots the table for the group & same depends upon the group size and infrastructure of the restaurant.
  1. For Muslim guest, we arrange halal food wherever available. In India we don’t have halal certified restaurant. Hence,  if somewhere, halal food is not available then we arrange vegetarian food.

 

Meals:

  1. There is mostly a pre-set menu for meals depending on the tour program and on some destination we provide buffet meals in same hotel.

  2. Packed meals are served at some places.

  3. Company does not differentiate amongst the guest/s by providing a special meal or special diet.

 

Tour guide / Escorts on Tour:

  1. Tour Guide/assistants/escorts are assisting to the guest/s throughout the tour, they are not responsible for guest/s baggage or any kind of personal belongings.

  2. The guest/s themselves should carry their baggage. The instructions and information of the tour, are to be followed in the group tours and tour leaders is not responsible for any instructions overruled by the guest/s and its consequences.

 

Cancellation Policy:

  1. If guest wish to cancel the tour for any reason at any point of time whatsoever she/he shall give the request to the company within a specified time limit. Such cancellation would be chargeable as per the policy.
  1. Cancellation charges will be calculated on gross tour invoice and the cancellation charges shall depend on date of departure & the date of cancellation.
  1. Cancellation charges for any mode of transport ticket are applicable as per the rules of the concerned authority.
  1. If Air ticket issued on special fare are non-refundable and the guest shall bear the cancellation charges. Any refund payable to the guest will be paid after the company receives refund from the respective authorities. The company deducts processing charges from the refund which is to be paid to the guest.

Registration / booking amount

  1. The registration / booking amount paid at the time of booking is non refundable and interest free. Guests have to pay the full tour price as per the guidelines given in the brochure and as per approval of our travel consultant.

  2. If a Guest books a tour within 30 days prior to the departure date, he/she should make a payment of the entire amount Or most consult with our “Tour Manger” and according guest make the payment either by TT, Wire transfer, credit card or cash on arrival.

  3. Payments can be made via online and Offline both. For online payment, please logon to www.sumanyatours.com, book your desired tour and make payment online by using Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking (depend on international). For Offline payment, guest can pay by cheque /  Demand draft in favour of  “SUMANYA TRAVEL SERVICES PVT LTD”. For international guest, can transfer payment via TT, wire transfer, westernmoney, Cash on arrival. Our bank detail is mention below.

Travel Insurance:

  1. Insurance is not included in package cost.  Company strongly recommended to have a travel insurance of all guest travelling to India or any foreign country. Guest can contact to their travel insurance partner to his/her own country for travel insurance.
  1. Normally overseas Mediclaim Insurance covers hospitalization, medical emergencies and the loss of passport. Hence, for more detail, contact your travel insurance partner.
  1. For any claims, the insurance company shall be solely responsible for granting or rejecting claims and we do not have any hold over it. It is at a sole discretion of the respective company we are only facilitator. Also, insurance does not cover pre-diagnosed ailments. In case of foreign nationals, insurance will have to be obtained by the individuals on their own.
